"If you have the opportunity and the material means, you should give back to the community. You've got to give back."
- Max M. Fisher
Mission
We will act from a philosophy grounded in the beliefs of our founders and our shared Jewish values that life’s purpose is found in service to others, in creating opportunities for those who lack them, empowering individuals in self sufficiency, providing life-saving resources for those without them, and supporting human community in all its forms from families to coalitions, cities to nations. While remaining flexible in our approach, the areas in which the Foundation seeks to have impact include:
- Providing for the needs and safeguarding the Jewish people,
- Strengthening families and the supportive framework surrounding them creating an environment where children can thrive, become nurturing adults for future generations breaking the cycle of intergenerational dependency and creating a positive interdependency,
- Reducing the accelerating impact of HIV/AIDS through treatment and research, providing tools for those affected to increase their sense of self-worth and purpose while increasing the availability of preventive health care for women and children, and
- Supporting education, promoting the arts and enhancing the discovery, documentation and preservation of ancient and modern cultures.
